There is an inextricable link joining kink and creepy, fear and excitement, thrilling and chilling. Perhaps that’s why I have always held a deep fascination with horror. Be it scary movies, novels or eerie local folklore whispered over a smoky campfire. It makes more than just my spine tingle and I find myself feeling so alive when pondering mortality and things that go bump in the night. It all comes down to that mind-fuck. When instinct takes over logic.

Why might this be? Perhaps it has something to do with how horror has a distinct way of stripping us bare and whittles us down to our most base, primordial survival motivations, much like sex does. Adrenaline can act like an aphrodisiac. Oxygen courses through the body at an increased rate, the circulation rushes along the extremities, eyes dilate. One’s senses are magnified.

In short, it can make you feel alive.

Much like the frightening villains and antagonists of horror media, Femdoms a bit intimidating in their own distinct way, are they not? Their impervious beauty and almost supernatural ability to read people can be uncanny and unnerving. They know how to bring you to your knees and hold so much power in the palm of their skilled hands. There is something almost vampiric in the energy exchange between sub and Domina. Feeling the rush of giving in and the hush of everything else silenced by the need to submit is intoxicating. A healthy, calculated risk like consenting kink can give a similar enthralling experience.  That intense sense of being on the edge of one’s existence. Facing up to one’s fears and femdoms are both quite the mind-blowing experiences.
