En Femme Fashion Fall Forecast with Fiona
The cicadas are starting to sing their end of summer song, the sky is pulling its curtain down a little earlier each night and the whispers of wind are beginning to stir. Summer is getting ready to pass her crown to Autumn and usher in the next season’s show. While I do love being a beach-bunny, I am so excited that sweater weather is not too far off. It has been a sweltering summer and I crave the comfort of Autumn’s embrace and I hope you all do as well! En Femme & Sissy Fashion for Fall is looking glorious and I can’t wait to share what is being forecast as being prominent styles in the coming weeks. There is something for everyone with so many different directions fashion is branching out to.
Remember you don’t have to follow any trends that you don’t feel good wearing or trying. Or, you can always adapt them to make them work for your own unique preferences. Think of trends as options and that when they are “in” stylewise, will be easy to find in stores if you so choose to embrace them but all listen to your inner sissy/femme style diva voice and wear what works for you and makes you feel like your most feminine and beautiful self. With all that in mind consider the following:
Take a Walk on the Wild Side
An aesthetic that is being called “mob wife” is making a resurgence. Especially the iconic 90’s glam cheetah print. This can be used as a bold statement piece like a dress or a more subtle look when used in accessories or coat linings.
Green Goddess
Shades of green are going to be trendy this autumn especially olive, sage and emerald. Green doesn’t always have to mean spring. It’s Olive the Rage Now
Preppy Plaid
Tartans, tweeds, checks and plaids are in along with a preppy vibe. Tying sweaters at the waist and shoulders will also be a continuing trend from last winter.
Rockstar Edge w/ a side of Grunge
Flannel shirts, ripped jeans combat boots and rocker edge has been strutting down the runway and will hit the streets this autumn. Comfy chic with an edge sounds heavenly after such a hot summer.
Broaching the Subject
Brooches are wearable art pieces that are like jewelry for your tops and coats! Hit up vintage stores and consignment stores for unique pieces and instantly update your outfit.
Diamonds, Darling
When are diamonds not in style? If you are like me and prefer the more wallet-friendly conflict-free variety you can go with grown diamonds instead. Lab-created diamonds are optically, physically, and chemically the same as regular/natural diamonds . They both have equally durability, are both pure carbon and possess the same “fire, scintillation and sparkle” at a way more reasonable price point.
Pea Coats & 1960s Dress Coats
Pea coats are practical, cute and give such a polished look. The tailored dress/coat 2-in-1 will also be making its rounds in the fashion I’m so happy there will be plenty to choose from in the stores.
Giving Good Head: Hoods & Hats
Hoodies, Hats, berets and structured head gear of all sorts will be omnipresent. Great for those days your hair and the wind just don’t want to cooperate.
Puffy but Never Stuffy
Puffer jackets, thickly filled pillow-like coats and faux fur are going to be very popular. Puffer jackets and vests are wonderfully cozy for autumnal strolls and give a great sporty chic look.
Lots of Leather: Redux Moto Jackets
They also make amazing faux leather jackets out of sustainable sources like cactus, leaf, mushroom, grain-based, Pinatex and vegan cork. This look pairs well with the preppy Plaid (by subverting it) and Grunge and Rockstar style resurgence
All in the Wrist
Wristlet purses! Wrist candy is both functional and fashionable as thin purses for all your basic necessities.
Finger Fashion
To nail the nail polish trend this season, consider matte black and deep red accents or go big and bold and do the gothic chic full black.
Makeup Trends:
All Lined Up
Lined lips in very berry shades look yummy and good enough to bite.
Lotta Latte
Frosty sheen on shades of coffee eyeshadow
