Mad About Maya
My first girl crush of Winter 2018 is a lovely lady I have enjoyed for years: Ms. Maya Ruldoph from Bridesmaids, and of course, SNL fame. She’s smart, sassy and hilarious. Nothing is sexier to me than the ability to find and share humor and laughter with whip fast comedic timing. Her impressions are so spot-on, that she can capture the magic of multiple women at the drop of a hat. One moment she’s Maya Angelou, then Whitney, Diana Ross, Charo, Beyonce, Lisa Kudrow, Oprah, Christina Aguilera and that’s just to name a few! She sparkles the most though just being her cute self. Plus, I’ll admit I’m a sucker for her big doe brown eyes.
Really awesome Maya factoid: Her mother is Minnie Riperton (another wonderful girl crush example). Yes, that golden-voiced songwriter songstress from 1975 single “Lovin’ You.” Minnie is a five-octave coloratura soprano. No doubt where Maya’s great singing voice comes from. Maya was a singer and the keyboardist for the Weezer spin-off band called The Rentals. They opened for Alanis Morissette in ’94. She also is in a Prince cover band called Princess and Prince himself was a fan. How cool is that? Plus, her dad is a singer-songwriter and her brother Marc is a music engineer.

I loved Maya in Bridesmaids, too. She’s a nagtural talent and a unique beauty. There are so many women out there that should be celebrated for their contributions and I’m happy to see class-act Maya here in the blog. Great choice.

Ms Fiona- I’m a Maya fan also! I’ve always enjoyed her comedic acting, but I have to say I really cemented my admiration for her when I found out about her Prince cover band, Princess. Seeing the adoration she and her friend have for Prince, and the way she celebrates him just adds to the reasons to admire her talents. Thank you for sharing. Multi-faceted women are certainly deserving of celebration!
